My name is Elke, I was born in Berlin, Germany, from a heritage deeply etched in art. I soon developed my own appreciation for the wonders of artistic design. As a child I was drawn to the compelling lines of the classical architecture and sculpture in the cities of Europe.
Educated at The Hamburg Institute of Fine Art and Graphic Design, I have embraced a very eclectic approach to my work. I feel compelled to capture the classically elegant lines that mesmerized me as a child, but also to explore the cultural interpretations of my travels and the purity of ultra modern free expression. The inspiration for my work comes in many forms, there is no formula, I create what is in my heart.
I have used many different mediums for my work – from stone to cast porcelain and ceramic. My work in the genre of porcelain art dolls gained six “Doll Of The Year” awards. While working with Danbury Mint, my subjects have been Shirley Temple, Pope John Paul II, and Derek Jeter among others.
Recently I have come to an art form that is near and dear to the heart of each and every young woman. I create wedding favors and ring dishes that last through the ages as a memento and
an heirloom to be treasured virtually for all time. My theme is simple elegance – white on white – with a touch of color to fit your scheme. My favors are meant to be affordable so that everyone can share in your celebration. Come on DowntheRoadwithMe and give everyone a memory that will last forever!
